Mark Hollis died last month. This mix began as an attempt to feature one of his biggest hits with Talk Talk (“It’s My Life”). While that song ultimately did not make it in, it informs the sounds I looked for in the others that did. The last one, “The Colour of Spring,” is from Hollis’s eponymous solo album released in 1998. The others fit under a strange and expansive umbrella which I will call: “things played in a weird club that exists nowhere.”

1) “Pull Up” — ABRA — Princess – EP
2) “Stay Flo” — Solange — When I Get Home
3) “Send to Robyn Immediately” — Robyn — Robyn
4) “IZ-US” — Aphex Twin — Come to Daddy
5) “Everything in Its Right Place” — Radiohead — Kid A
6) “Desafío” — Arca — Arca
8) “Onanon” — Kelela — Take Me Apart
9) “Down 4 Whatever (feat. SZA)” — Kingdom — Tears in the Club
10) “Holding On” — Tirzah — Devotion
11) “Heat Rises” — Nilüfer Yanya — Miss Universe
12) “Track Three” — Scott Walker — Climate of the Hunter
13) “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” — Kate Bush — Hounds of Love
14) “when the party’s over” — Billie Eilish — WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?
15) “The Colour of Spring” — Mark Hollis — Mark Hollis
